Oh nice that you are here...

Very nice meeting you and welcome to my website!
I am very grad that you are here. In case you are questioning many stuffs about me no worries I think the most fascinating part of me is that I come from the enchanted island Puerto Rico. In my go-to life I always do workout, study, read, do research, and go to the beach a lot.

I am a biomedical engineer who is fascinated with the brain and all the application you can have with it.  On a side note, I am a very active volunteer of different organizations that develop different interest that I have like entrepreneurship, leadership, politics, and social impact.

I am a first generation in a STEM career and being very honest anything has been of what I expected. During my teenage years looking for what I wanted to study and believe me, it was not engineer. First, I wanted to be a physician, but I knew that maybe I would not want to be that in the future so by time I thought that maybe studying biology I would not have a career with that (by time I did not knew research and PhD even existed).

After having many counseling sessions, I decided to I apply to different state university campuses (University of Puerto Rico) to study nursing. I decided to study nursing because more than be a physician I wanted to be in the health environment. But it seems that was not what life wanted me to be after being rejected of three campuses of the state school. Without hope I choose not to go to university but thanks to my mom (my hero) she helped me to find a degree that would fit my interests. She knew I was good at math and science, and I liked to serve, she remembered I won the New Invention category of a scientific competition in high school I even forgot that. My mom looked on google and found about the biomedical engineering field that was a good fit for me but there wasn’t a university in Puerto Rico that had that career, that’s what we thought!

Why biomedical engineering?

I used to be a beach volleyball player and in a tournament there was a table of the Polytechnic university of Puerto Rico and my mom push me to go there. When I got the information about the university the first thing they told me about this new department in the engineering school called biomedical engineering. What! That’s not a coincidence, so there is actually a biomedical engineering field in PR. So the first thing my mom and I did was go to the university to have a better orientation and the rest is history.

Biomedical engineering (BME) is the application of engineer principles where it use problem-solving techniques of biology and medicine. So BME is everything I wanted it just in one degree. Seeing the versatility BME has, starting with state of art design in the medical field, with designing prothesis, also conducting research in the applied science, as well developing medical offices and  . Starting the bachelors I knew I had to start with the right foot.

Why pursue a research career?

Talking about starting with the right foot, the first day in college I immediately looked for research experience, talked with different professors, visit the labs, but I did not have luck.
